Flathead Lake Lodge is a historic third generation family operated Guest Ranch located in the mountains of Northwest Montana and directly on the shores of Flathead Lake. The Lodge offers the ultimate family vacation with unlimited horse & water recreation and is located only 40 minutes from Glacier National Park and the famous Going to the Sun Highway.

At the Lodge your family will enjoy endless recreational activities, a rustic ranch atmosphere, and unmatched hospitality by the Averill family and staff. Recreation includes a complete horse program highlighted by individual lessons, rodeo events, breakfast and lunch rides, a private elk preserve and more than 2,000 pristine acres for daily trail rides.

In addition to the riding programs, Flathead Lake Lodge offers unmatched water activities on Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake West of the Mississippi and one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Spend the afternoon sailing your own boat or crewing on one of the two 51’ Q Class racing sloops, water skiing or wake boarding, and enjoying the lakeside heated pool.

In addition to the horse and water programs guests enjoy world-class fly fishing expeditions on the nearby Swan River, hiking, biking trips, whitewater rafting, and more. Nightly activities include a mountain cookout, family rodeo events, a barn dance, campfires, and a kid’s tepee overnight to name a few. Flathead Lake:
Flathead Lake Lodge is located directly on the shores of Flathead Lake which is not only the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi (spanning 28 miles by 10 miles in size), but is also one of the cleanest fresh water lakes in the world. The beach on Flathead Lake is always a popular gathering spot on hot afternoons. Sailing or boating across the clear blue water, participating in a canoe race, water skiing, or enjoying a refreshing swim in Flathead Lake are all exhilarating ways to spend an afternoon.

Children at the Lodge:
Children are a focus of activities and recreation here at the Lodge. Flathead Lake Lodge has a unique children’s program where family interaction is key and children have the freedom to roam the property and the various activities as they’d like. Children focused activities include daily kids rides, daily Arts & Crafts, water activities, kids teepee overnight, kids rodeo, organized games and a junior wrangler program to name a few. Your child will fall in love with Flathead Lake Lodge and make friendships that can last a lifetime.

Glacier National Park:
Flathead Lake Lodge is surrounded by some of the nations most beautiful and untouched wilderness areas. Glacier National Park is located only 35 miles North of the Lodge and is a great option for a family day trip. Glacier National Park is considered the “Crown of the Continent” and is the most intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. In addition to its spectacular views, Glacier is home to an abundance of wildlife most notably big horn sheep, mountain goats, bears, and moose.

Location: Averill's Ranch, Flathead Lake Lodge is unique in its location; a Montana mountain dude ranch nestled in a private bay on the largest fresh water lake in the West. As remote as it sounds, Flathead Lake Lodge is actually quite easy to get to for your dude ranch vacation. Glacier Park International Airport (FCA), located 30 minutes from the ranch and offers daily flights.

Rates: Rates Include:

7 days, 3 meals per day, lodging, horseback riding, horse activities, rodeo action, breakfast ride, cookouts, kids camp, water sports, use of sailboats, canoes, fishing boats, water skiing, lake cruises, heated pool, beach fires, tennis courts, volleyball, use of recreation hall, transportation to primitive hiking areas and all other dude ranch activities and facilities.
Minimum Stay: A one week stay runs Sunday to Sunday.
Deposit: A 30% deposit is required for confirmation for single family reservations. After February 1st a 50% deposit is required for single family reservations. Multiple family groups consisting of 3 or more families require a 50% deposit to confirm the reservation.
Payment: The Lodge accepts personal checks and major credit cards.
Transportation: Shuttle service is available from the Kalispell, MT airport (airport code FCA) and the Whitefish Amtrak train station at a cost of $140 per family round trip.
Singles and couples are $70.00 round trip.

Lodging: Guests at our Ranch enjoy the cozy ambiance found in our historic log lodges and rustic cabins. Tucked along the banks of Flathead Lake amongst large fir and pine trees, each room at our guest ranch has its own unique touches overlooking Flathead Lake. From restored historic cabins to log lodges, each accommodation is highlighted by traditional wood furnishings and simple Western comfort. The historic lodges and cabins are the perfect base camp for your family's adventure and memory filled week.
Kids' Program: Children's Horseback Rides

Children's horseback rides take place several times throughout the day. Children 6 and older may ride their own horse on the Montana mountain trails with one of our experienced wranglers, who have a way with both children and horses and are always available for companionship.

On Saturday mornings, the kids show off their horse savvy, in the Children's Rodeo.

Junior Wranglers
Kids can become "Junior Wranglers" while at the ranch. They'll learn about saddling, horse care, grooming and barn duties throughout the week. "Junior Wranglers" are able to partake in the daily operation of a working stable. Scooping poop is one of the favorite chores at the barn.

Kids Overnight Camp
Kid's (6-12) have the opportunity to spend a night in authentic teepees on our dude ranch property. At the camp, kids enjoy roasting marshmallows, children's games and ghost stories, accompanied by members of the guest ranch staff.
Food/Dining: Meals at the Lodge reflect a mix of Western elegance, family friendliness, and satisfying home cooking. The rustic Lodge and roaring fire enhance the Montana inspired cuisine highlighted by fine cuts of meat, fresh local produce, and a hearty Western flare. For the younger ones, a special kid friendly dinner is served nightly. Enjoy a variety of menus including an early morning breakfast ride and mountain steak fry dinner. Fine dining is paired with a casual family atmosphere and good home cooking.
